Things To Do - On The Farm

So much to do without leaving the grounds of Wern-y-Cwm Farm

  • Book a Massage. Our in-house Holistic Therapist is available for you to book in advance with a selection of treatments. Check the options & prices here.

  • Orchard, Veg & Herb Gardens. Reduce your food miles by picking your own herbs and fruit in season - from rhubarb in May, Raspberries in July to Apples in October.

  • Rill & Water Fountain. Spend a mindful moment watching the water fall from the 19th century trough or quietly spotting the newts. (Switch opposite the water trough. Please do not touch the newts.)

  • Scooters. Children may take them for a spin down the drive, (Found outside the office or in the Captain's Cave, helmets in the blue cupboard.)

  • Great Barn Double Swing Seat. Perfect Instagram spot framing the Skirrid Mountain at the back of the Great Barn. (Only if no event on in the Great Barn.

  • Dragon Hunt. Search for loving, entwined dragons, and their sleeping baby (tree sculptures) behind the Great Barn. (Only if no event in the Great Barn.)

  • Den in the Deep Dark Wood. Farmhouse guests should find our den and build their own in the deep dark wood. Perfect spot for listening to the dawn chorus.

  • Wildflower Meadows. In Spring/Summer walk round the bottom fields, take our Wildflower Survey & hold a ‘spot the species’ competition. Download our survey here and find the route here.

  • Darts. Cider House guests enjoy a game in the back courtyard, Farmhouse guests in the Disco Den.

  • Old Oak Tree Swings. The swings in the Wern-y-Wellness garden offer fun for little ones or a place to relax for big people. Children must be accompanied.

  • Star Gazing. Turn off the outside lights and enjoy the night sky or take a night walk to the sound of owls and foxes, looking out for badgers and hedgehogs. 

  • Disco. Farmhouse guests may enjoy being disco divas in the old cellar den.

  • Croquet. Farmhouse guests may hold a competitive game on the front lawn.

  • Books, Games, Puzzles, Toys & Cards. Look in drawers and on the shelves to find a wide collection to keep all ages busy on a rainy day.

  • Hammocks. Farmhouse guests can hang out in the hammocks in the orchard.

  • Natural Swimming Pool. Ideal for year-round cold-water dips in fresh water pumped and filtered through the plants without chlorine. 

  • Sauna. Enjoy our stunning Sauna-with-a-view and relax after your cold-water dip. Booked your 2 hour session in advance (with a fee).

  • Bumble Bee Spotting. Our organically farmed land is heaven for bees & butterflies, see how many you can spot in the Spring/Summer months. Some are even quite rare. Download our survey here.

  • BBQ & Cooking Over the Firepit. Cook up a feast on the BBQ or toast some marshmallows over the firepits. Booked in advance (with a fee).

  • Table Tennis. Farmhouse & Dairy guests may get competitive with a heated family or friends tournament.

  • Trampoline. Farmhouse guests may bounce to their hearts' content on the sunken trampoline with a great view.

  • Hot Tub. Farmhouse & Dairy guests may enjoy a relaxing soak in their private hot tubs.  Booked in advance (with a fee).

  • Greenhouse. Visit the greenhouse, take a book or game and relax in the warm surrounded by beautiful plants. (Available when not booked for an event.)

  • Foraging. Eat off the land with advice from our books of fungi, hedgerows and foraging found in each house or book an expert walk in advance (with a fee).

  • Dog Walks. Let your furry family run free across the bottom fields which are generally live-stock free . Ask in advance for treats, towels, bowls, and beds.

  • Picnic in the Fields. Pack a picnic, rug, and take your tribe to a favourite spot.

  • Book the Great Barn. Plan a special banquet or party surrounded by amazing art and admire the incredible beams and views. Booked in advance (with a fee).

  • E-bike Hire. Book our Mountain E-bike with full suspension and auto-adjust saddle in large and can arrange more to be delivered. Pre-book in advance.

  • Dawn Chorus. Experience the bird world waking up. Sit on the benches behind the Dairy, back of the Cider House by the rill, or in the Den in the Deep Dark Wood off the Farmhouse.  Close your eyes and listen, 15 mins before dawn.

Greenhouse afternoon tea

 

  • Grass Amphitheatre. Prepare and perform a play, give a speach or use as an alternative Yoga setting. Our amphietheatre is also the perfect setting for charades or a talent show. (Available from Summer 2025.)
  • Camper Van Hook Ups.  If you need a little more accommodation and have hired the Great Barn for your meals we permit up to four camper vans on the farm and have a super cool shower & WC. (Available from Spring 2025.)
  • Eloise the Luxury Vintage Double Extended HY Camper Van. She is a beauty and will be a massive hit. Currently being fitted out to the absolute highest standards, Eloise sleeps 2 and will be the dream super-glamp romantic hide away. (Available from Summer 2025.)
